Antigo

Wisconsin designated Antigo silt loam (Typic glossoboralf) as the official state soil in 1983 (named after the city of Antigo, Wisconsin). This level, silty soil was created during the last great glaciers. Among the most extensive soils in Wisconsin, Antigo soils are used to produce corn, small grain, hay, potatoes, and snap beans (and are also used for pasture and timber production).
